An 82-kWh lithium-ion battery pack gives the ID.4 an estimated range of 250 miles.
How will charging affect my electric bill?
The ID.4 has an EPA-estimated rate of 35 kWh per 100 miles. Given Maryland’s $0.1124/kWh average electricity cost, that means the ID.4 costs around $9.84 per full charge.
How long does it take to charge the ID.4?
A standard Level 2 home charger can add about 33 miles of range per hour, taking ~7.5 hours for a full charge. With a DC fast charger, like those found at highway rest stops, the ID.4 can go from 5% to 80% in just 40 minutes.
What are the financial benefits of the ID.4?
- Federal Tax Credits: As of April 2021, the ID.4 is eligible for a federal tax credit of up to $7,500.
- Maryland Rebate for Charging Equipment: Maryland’s electric vehicle rebate ran out of funds pretty quickly, but the state still offers assistance towards electric vehicle ownership. The Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Rebate program offers rebates of up to $700 for individuals or $4,000 for businesses to help reduce charging equipment and installation costs.
- HOV Usage: The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration issues a special permit to display on plug-in vehicles for access to the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes, no matter how many people are in the car.
- Potomac Edison Incentives: EV Driven by Potomac Edison offers residential customers a 300 rebate for the purchase and installation of a qualified Level 2 charging station. And with the company’s Off-Peak Rewards program, you can earn $0.02 per kWh for net off-peak charging usage between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. and on weekends.
- Free Charging: Early ID.4 adopters are rewarded with three years of complimentary unlimited charging on the Electrify America network of public chargers, which covers 470 charging stations and 2,000 public DC fast chargers across the country.
